We are two sisters in laws married to brothers. We are best friends and literally identical in our passion for all things vintage. Traveling together is a must as we are discovering new areas around the US to find our favorite goodies. Tremendous joy and elation is felt when we come across that little piece of vintage that someone had no clue about. Together we enjoy each others company as we share our passion and learn more everyday about the thing we love most...VINTAGE

VINTAGE BRIDAL HEADPIECES

Have you ever wondered what amazing bridal veils were worn throughout history? well, part of the fun of being a collector is looking back on the history of something. Today's blog is about Vintage Bridal headpieces. The Veil is of course the masterpiece. As long as time, you will see pics of veils on brides. In Mid Evil times, a simple veil cascaded down over the dress usually flowing freely. To hold into place, either a crown of jewels (if of royal blood) was used to hold in place or a wreath made of natural elements if you were of lower class.
During Victorian times and on into the future the Veil still reigned. Longer and fuller, each headpiece got more elaborate with time. In early Hollywood era, usually the trendsetter was a famous actress that was getting married. All brides wanted to copy her, as see in the 1950s with Elizabeth Taylor. This trend continues today with the most recent being Reese Witherspoon wearing her Southern French Veil in her movie...now this is a popular trend today.

What does the future hold? Well...maybe just maybe..a glimpse might be in the last three Haute Couture styles...Lets hope NOT!!!
